Energy Diary – Application to Help You Shed Some
Review by on
A lot of people around the world, including myself, could stand to lose a few pounds. Losing weight could prove to be a bit of a hassle. So what can you do to get some help? You can do what I always do – turn to software and see if software can lend a helping hand.

Luckily enough there are software applications out there that specialize in helping people shed those extra pounds. One such application is the Soft4Everyone-developed program Energy Diary, an application that weighs in at less than 4MB. At such a lightweight size, the download will complete in no time at all.

Once downloaded and installed on your system, you can use the application to lose some weight. In this regard you can take advantage of the fact that Energy Diary comes with a database of more than 7,000 foods. The app has detailed nutrition info on each of these foods. Energy Diary also comes with a database of more than 600 activities and the amount of energy spent while performing each activity.

Losing and gaining weight is all a math game. If you put into your body more calories than you burn, then you will put on weight. If you put into your body less calories than you burn, then you lose weight. It is as simple as that. This application shows you how much energy you obtain from the stuff you eat, and how much energy you use up doing various activities. To lose weight, you must use up more energy than you obtain from the foods you eat.

Other things this application can do: log your body measurements, define a goal and check how close you are to reaching it.

Does your significant other need to lose some weight too? No problem, both of you can use Energy Diary together. The application can be used by multiple users. Each user gets an account that is password protected (great if you don’t want others to snoop around your personal info).

Pros
  • Lightweight download (under 4MB)
  • Detailed energy usage statistics
  • Multiple people can use the application
  • Password protected login
  • Built on Java, so it can be used on Windows, Linux, and Mac

Cons
  • Not freeware
  • The demo version is limited: only first 100 activity records, 100 food records, and only first 10 user foods are saved.
